MCC Web Site Personal Information Policy
(Version dated November 2002 )

The following policy is the current guidance used by MCC’s Web Page Administrator and church staff to safeguard personal information and identity on the church's  web site.  Since the web site is public in nature, this same policy is not intended to be applied towards printed and individually mailed materials.  This policy was developed with the help of the old UCC forums.

The intent is to share our church’s life while not compromising it.

OK to publish on web page:

1. Committee member’s full name as printed in bulletin

2. Pictures with first name & last name initial only (ex. Chase L., Tom D., Olivia J., etc.)

3. Church Staff work phone numbers

4. Church Staff email addresses

5. Church member’s current town (ex. Mystic,  Groton , etc.)

NOT OK to publish on web page:

1. Church member’s: 

   • Telephone numbers 

   • Full address

   • Occupation (except as posted on future member business page)

   • Age with full name

2. Children’s full name with: 

   • Age

   • Picture

   • Name of school attended

3. Information localizing a potential target group.  For example, "The single moms meet on Tuesday at Linda's home: 123 Anystreet, OurTown (111)222-333." The (Internet) world includes immature and hostile people who could prey on Linda and her children.
